Matvik

Matvik is one of the most distinctive old farms in the Geirangerfjord. As it is located in a warm, sheltered bay just east of Lundaneset, it was always a fruitful farm.

A combination of favorable sun and soil conditions, makes Matvik ideal for the cultivation of fruit. While fruit like apples and plums are quite common in the fjords, cultivation of apricot, like they did in Matvik, is not. After all, its location is about 61 degrees north, the same latitude as southern Greenland. Since 1961, Matvik has been a summer house.
